For 45 years, we have been here to ensure that anyone affected by cancer can access the support they need when, and where they need it. Your support will ensure people across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight have access to the emotional and practical support they need.

Your support helps provide safe and welcoming spaces where people and their families can access free services such as professional counselling, complementary therapies, wellbeing activities and community groups.

45 Years of Wessex Cancer Support

Since 1981, you have helped us be there to support local people affected by cancer. We are a pillar of support for people across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, ensuring no one in our community has to face cancer alone.

Throughout 2026, we will be celebrating 45 years of supporting local people affected by cancer. We’ll also have a number of ways for you to learn more about what we do and how you can help support services continue in the future. Learn more here or explore ways to support below

How we support local people with cancer

We provide safe, welcoming cancer support centres where people can take a break from the worries of cancer and find comfort, strength, and hope. Our free services include:

  • Professional counselling to help people manage the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis
  • Complementary therapies such as massage, reflexology, and relaxation techniques to improve wellbeing
  • Wellbeing activities that encourage physical and emotional resilience
  • Support groups and community activities where no one has to feel isolated

Whether someone is newly diagnosed, going through treatment, adjusting to life afterwards, or caring for a loved one, our services are here for the whole family.

Your impact

Every act of kindness counts. By supporting us, you’re not only helping people cope with the impact of cancer, you’re also giving them hope, strength and comfort at a time when they need it most.

Supporting us doesn’t always mean making a donation. You can take part in one of our upcoming events, share your time as a volunteer, or simply stay connected with us through our newsletter. However you choose to get involved, you’ll be making a meaningful difference to the lives of local people affected by cancer.

Your generosity ensures that our doors remain open to everyone who needs us:

Your gift of £5 – A warm welcome

Could help cover the cost of refreshments at one of our drop-in sessions within our four centres, or befriending groups, where people find connection and comfort.

Your gift of £20 – Finding calm

+

Could help fund wellbeing services that ease anxiety and promote emotional recovery during tough times.

Your gift of £45 – A starting point for support

+

Could fund an initial one-to-one session with a Wellbeing Coordinator, helping someone navigate their support options.

Your gift of £130 – Keep our doors open

+

Could help fund one hour of time at a Support Centre, ensuring anyone who walks in is met with warmth, empathy, and expert care.

Our stats

“The journey to the marathon has been tough, but it pales in comparison to the fight cancer patients endure every single day. I want to use this opportunity to raise awareness, give back, and honour the resilience of those facing cancer.”
